I discovered Twilight on December 1, 2007. I picked the paperback up on a whim as I checked out at the local discount store, basically because I anticipated having a bit of vacation time on my hands at the end of the month, and also because I hadn’t read anything new and good since the seventh Harry Potter book came out. I mentally prepared myself to be disappointed with the series, so I didn’t pick up the sequels at the time. There was no way that Twilight could live up to all of the hype that surrounded it, right? WRONG.
I started reading that night after I put my kids in bed, and I finished it in less than four hours. Before I could even think about getting to a store and buying New Moon, I had to read Twilight again. It was at this point that I wished there was something I could knit that was Twilight related, so I searched the internet for patterns. I didn’t find much, and what I did find I thought was a little too “young” for my taste.
I wanted to knit something that would whisper “I love Twilight” to those who were familiar with the book, but that would also look sophisticated and would be wearable on a daily basis. Think of them as gloves with a secret life. To the uninitiated, these look like basic fingerless gloves with a fancy crescent design on the hand. To those who are “in the know” about Twilight, though, the gloves reveal their true design: a representation of Bella’s scar from James’s bite.
(PSST–If you’re not a knitter but still want a pair of gloves, I have some ready made in my Etsy shop.)

This is SO romantic and so subtle. It’s like a private reminder of the scar we all WISH we had…Beautiful pattern!!
I shared this with my twilight swap partner as her swap pattern.

Hey! Your playlist is going in the magazine!
Now, I already bumped it up 4 pages to 36 in length. But if I decide to get super brave and add 4 more, do you think I could run your Bella’s fingerless gloves pattern and then a nice little ad to your Etsy store?

As soon as I saw Bella’s Fingerless Gloves, I knew it was the pattern I was looking for. Also being a huge Twilight fan, I love the crescent —very cool! Going to start them tonight, since I have been going through Twilight withdrawal. Maybe after the holidays I will start the series over again.

when you say CO over 2 dpn’s (i see you use this often), are you holding two needles together so that you have a looser cast on? Love the gloves — will make them for my daughter who is a huge Twilight fan — i’ve been looking for the perfect pair and the bite mark will be awesome! in case you don’t receive my email address it’s dkenned@germantownacademy.org — thanks!

Is there any way you could write up the pattern on straight needles? Or circulars if it’s not possible on straights because as much as I try I cannot get on with dpn’s! lol
Thanks in advance

When you use the abbreviation ‘YO,’ what does that mean?
I’m new to knitting and want to challenge myself to make these before a Twilight convention in February.
If it’s possible to help, my email is elbeane@sbcglobal.net.
Thanks!

I really liked this pattern. Just finished my first one.
For those of you who are a little confused, knittinghelp.com is a great website that has videos to help demonstrate how to do stuff.
Anything from Cast on’s (CO) to different decreases like K2tog and SSK
